SCL Services - Temperature Control Validation
On certain equipment, SCL Services can validate temperature control in line with Health Technical Memorandum 01-04.
HTM 01-04 (formerly CFPP 01-04) is the Health Technical Memorandum dealing with laundry and the control of infection risks to patients, health practitioners and your own personnel.
The document specifies times and temperatures for laundry that will ensure removal of harmful organisms, whether by purely thermal control or chemo-thermal control with sterilising agents being added to the wash at a lower temperature.
Falling under the remit of this document are any of the following used in hospitals or care homes:
- Bed linen: blankets, counterpanes, cot sheets and blankets, duvets, duvet covers, pillowcases and sheets (woven, knitted, half sheets, draw and slide sheets)
- bibs
- blankets
- canvases
- curtains
- hoist slings
- patient clothing (gowns, nightdresses and shirts, pyjama tops and bottoms)
- staff clothing (coats, scrub suits, tabards, uniforms*)
- towels
